Interest in Micro insurance for bicycle industry

Dear All,

I am working for a local NGO in Kenya, East Africa dealing with transport
issues including bicycles. This may be strange to most but there are bicycle
taxis that transport people and goods from one point to the other. This is
proving to be a vibrant business in the rural and secondary towns in the
Kenya. The operators are however a neglected lot and do not benefit from a
micro-finance initiatives in the country. Of specific concern is the lack of
insurance for the bicycle operators and their passengers against accidents
similar to the motor vehicle insurance cover. Interestingly some groups have
started their own micro-schemes where they save some little amounts on a
daily basis and in case of accidents they use the money to meet medical
costs for the injured and also to repair the bicycle. They also investigate
the cause of the accidents to rule out negligence and indiscipline. I am
looking for persons or information on persons keen to partner on a
micro-insurance scheme for the bicycles on a pilot basis. I would be
delighted to provide further information.
