Homeownership Program Assistant
The Allston Brighton Community Development Corporation (ABCDC) seeks a
part-time Homeownership Program Assistant to work on its affordable
homeownership program. The Homeownership Program Assistant will report to
the Homeownership Program Manager for the day-to-day implementation of
these projects. ABCDC is a nonprofit organization serving Allston
Brighton, an ethnically diverse neighborhood in Boston with many low- and
moderate-income residents. ABCDC produces affordable housing, creates
homeownership opportunities, revitalizes commercial areas, provides
opportunities for economic development, improves parks, and promotes ethnic
harmony.
Responsibilities:
Calling Allston Brighton Home affordable homeownership program:
Assist in the organization of and registration for homebuying classes;
Conduct outreach and publicity for homebuying classes;
Survey graduates of Allston Brighton CDC homebuying classes;
Respond to first-time homebuyers' questions by telephone and in person;
Provide educational services for first-time homebuyers;
Qualifications:
Good writing and communication skills; attention to detail; ability to
handle multiple tasks and prioritize; well organized; commitment to the
empowerment low-income people and communities; interest in leadership
development; ability to work with diverse groups of people; ability to work
autonomously as well as part of a team; ability to work in fast paced, but
friendly environment. Bilingual skills highly desirable. Experience in
community organizing or community development desirable. Basic Microsoft
Office computer skills.
Compensation: $11/hr. plus benefits.
Public Transportation: Accessible by the MBTA "B" line (Green line) and
several bus routes.
Hours: 20 hours per week. Flexible hours with one evening (until 9 PM) or
weekend homebuying class each week.
Start date: End of January, 2002.
